Sew Basics: Paper is a Textile
Embroidery looks great on paper as well as fabric. You can use hand or machine embroidery to enhance your letterhead, business cards, and invitations, and give a unique look to your missives. If you are using a sewing machine on paper, remember to set your stitches quite wide. Paper doesn’t stretch like material does, and the paper will disintegrate if you do not allow for the full diameter of the needle when you are sewing.
Also remember that it will be easy to pull stitches out at the edge of the paper, so a tiny dab of PVA might be a good idea if you want to stop your beautiful new business cards from unravelling in your customer’s pocket.
