Machine Knitting: High Speed Corking
This method of corking using a knitting machine is considerably faster than traditional methods. Using this method it is quite easy to make several yards in an hour. To create this funky corking you need to:
- Bring forward four or five needles into working position
- Cast on using the e-wrap method
- Knit two rows and add a weight
- Press one part button, and continue knitting until you reach the desired length.
The corking can be hand knitted, crocheted, woven, or stitched into any number of fun articles. You can use this technique to make table or floor mats, rugs, bags, slippers, hats, cushions, and many other interesting items.
- Corking on needles.
- Close shot of corking.
- Weight the corking while knitting
- Push one part button.
- Yarn is wrapped around the pins.
- Traditional corking rig.

I have always called this icord…, corking, that’s an interesting term I hadn’t heard of.
