Make Your Own Polish
I did an article on making beeswax polish a little while ago, over on craftzine.com. When I first made my own polish, I was amazed at how effective it was. I could literally see my own reflection in a table top after a few minutes of polishing.
The recipe for making beeswax polish is very simple, because traditional polish mixture uses nothing but equal measures of beeswax and turpentine. if you can’t get turpentine, any clear paint thinner should be fine.
Melt the beeswax using a double boiler, and then remove from any source of ignition before adding the turpentine. Pour into a suitable jar, and leave it to cool with the lid on.
To use the polish, just apply a thin layer to the surface that you are working on and then allow it to set for a few minutes. Buff the wax with a soft cloth, as though you are polishing a car.
