Sewing: Vintage Scarf Cushions
This is a super-simple way to use an old (and possibly fragile) vintage scarf to brighten up your sitting room. By using a backing fabric you are strengthening the scarf, and the envelope-style backing means there are no complex zip fittings or button hole making.
I’ve made my cushions on a large scale but if you’d prefer smaller ones then just choose a section of the scarf that you’d like to use and cut it out (the backing fabric should stop the edges from fraying). This method is also useful if you have a precious scarf which isn’t wearable because it has a stain.
I used a ‘Paris’ scarf from the early 60s that my mother-in-law gave me and found a matching ‘London’ scarf from the 80s in a vintage shop.
